The McHenry Mansion Dickens Faire has been held for over ten years and starts off the holiday season on the first Saturday in December. It is a memorable community event offering house tours with many docents dressed in the fashion of the period.

Free children’s activities take place at the McHenry Museum, which is just down the street from the mansion.

The entire street in front of the house is closed to traffic for the day and vendors set up booths featuring a unique and interesting assortment of Christmas items, jewelry, food, crafts and other offerings for sale. It’s a great place to do some early holiday shopping.

Several food booths are on site including one ran by the Mansion Foundation, serving coffee, hot chocolate, soda, hot dogs, doughnuts, pies etc.

Strolling carolers and Christmas choruses provide entertainment as well as bagpipers, harpists and other musical ensembles filling the air with a sense of joy and excitement.

Additional entertainment is provided through the Certified Farmers Market, which is set up nearby on the day of the festivities.  Father Christmas is also in attendance, complete with a large bag of candy canes!

Carriage rides are available for a nominal fee and are a popular reminder of a by-gone era.

Dickens Faire is sure to provide a full day of fun for the entire family.  Plan to join us!
